Seems like a fitting first post for a group devoted to reading, don't you think?
Last week I finished reading Kim Powers' amazing book,
Capote in Kansas, and I thought I was about to be on yet another Capote/Lee kick, so I picked up Charles Shields' book on Lee entitled
Mockingbird. I read the first two chapters and I love it so far.
But then I was standing at my kitchen window actually watching the wild birds feed on my deck in the back yard, and a thought for a new story (or novel) hit me. So, I was off to do research, perusing my shelves for a bird encyclopedia handbook I'd purchased for my partner a few years ago. I won't dwell too much into the new writing project here now.
But I plan on finishing Mockingbird and then maybe paying a visit back to Jem, Scout, and Book Radley. It's been a while.
So, what are you reading this week?
